That's what I saw on a commercial the other day.
When I started this blog, I had the idea in mind that I wanted to keep this blog pretty positive without too much criticism. The problem is, when I see commercials like this on TV, I can't help but laugh.
How can you guarantee 3 inches off the waist in 6 days? You can't.
Number 1: Everybody is different. Person A isn't going to lose fat as fast as person B, so to say that it's guaranteed that you'll lose this many inches in this many days is purely false.
Number 2: Do you know how much weight would have to be lost to burn off 3 inches around the waist? A whole bunch. The safe limit for losing weight and keeping it off is 2 lbs. per week. But even losing 2 lbs. in a week won't put a dent in inches coming off the waist. Sure, you could starve yourself and not drink any fluids, and then you might be able to lose 3 inches of the waist in 6 days, but even that would be a pretty hefty feat.
The bottom line is, the new great and affordable exercise thingamajig that you see in infomercials most likely doesn't do much for you. If it did, then why are there so many exercise infomercials? It's because the ones before them didn't work either, so now they have the new answer to your fitness problems.
There's no special tool, potion, or pill that's going to give you lasting results. The only way to get lasting fitness results is through the hard work it takes with exercise and nutrition. Even GlaxoSmithKline's alli requires proper exercise and nutrition for the most successful weight loss results, about 50% more to be exact. But even they don't promise immediate results.
And the moral of the story is:
Don't be fooled by those enticing guarantees. Instead, keep the money in your pocket and put it towards something like new running shoes, workout clothes, a gym membership, or personal training.
